
The Chairman of Ardo-Old Local Government Area of Taraba State,Salihu Dovo and his nephew, Timothy Aminu, were on Sunday killed by gunmen suspected to be Kidnappers.
The Gunmen reportedly stormed the deceased Sabon-Gari residence in the early hours of Sunday shooting sporadically before taking him away
His nephew who tried to block the abduction of his uncle was killed by the gunmen
According to the state police spokesman, David Misal, local vigilante groups and police trailed the gunmen towards River Lamurde, the border linking Jalingo, the Taraba State Capital to Ando-Kola local government area where the gunmen on noticing that they could no longer bear the risk of taking him along shot him dead.
The PPRO said arrests have been made and assured that the killers of the council chairman and his nephew will be brought to book.
The bodies of the chairman and his nephew have been evacuated and deposited at the Federal Medical Centre Mortuary, Jalingo
A source from Jalingo who spoke to current matters said the rate of kidnapping, communal clashes and killing in the state is alarming.
The Source who goes by the name, Ahmed ,said he was not surprised by the abduction and killing of the council boss as kidnapping has become a normal way of life in Taraba .
He said not too long ago,kidnappers whisked away two members of the state House of Assembly and killed one of the lawmakers even after ransom was paid adding that as a result of the menace ,some parts of the state are inaccessible
