Cattle Breeders rescind combat stance on Akeredolu’s eviction order , send emissaries to Ondo
As the 7 day vacation order issued by the Ondo State government to herdsmen occupying Ondo forests reserves expired on Sunday,It has been confirmed that the leadership of the Umbrella body of the Cattle Breeders Association, Miyetti Allah have arrived Akure, the Ondo State capital to dialogue with South West governors.
The meeting which is expected to address incessant kilings and kidnapping as well as frequent clashes between farmers and herders is scheduled to hold at noon.
The Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu had last week issued a 7 day notice to herders to vacate the forests reserves and bushes in the The governor also banned night and under-age grazing and stopped movement of cattle along cities and highways
The directive by the governor attracted both positive and negative reactions from sections of the country.. While the Middle Belt Forum, South East and South West stakeholders backed the governor, the Arewa group and Miyetti Allah beat war drums for the state government in a manner that suggested that they were sacred cows.
A source in Akure believed the meeting will pave the way for understanding and douse the tension in the region .
