At least ten people are feared dead after soldiers launched an offensive against members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra,( IPOB) at Okporo, Ogboosisi, in Orlu local government area of Imo State.
The attack by the military said to be a reprisal over the killing of a soldier by Eastern Security Network,set up by IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu on Friday ,caused pandemonium in the community as people scampered to safety.
A source in the local government area said the streets were long deserted before the government declared a curfew on 9 local government areas.
The nine local government areas are Orlu,Orsu,Oru East,Ideato North and South,Isu,Njaba,Nkwerre and Nwagele.
The state governor, Hope Uzodinma, who described the raging scenario in the affected local government areas warned that those who breach the curfew in place would be treated as criminals adding that those responsible for the carnage will be brought to book.
