Buhari grieves over security challenges, charges Service Chiefs on obligation to nation
President Muhammadu Buhari has asked the newly appointed Service Chiefs to do what they can to bring the security situation in the country under control.
Buhari who met with the Military heads on Wednesday at the Presidential villa admitted the overwhelming security challenges in the country as he lamented “We are in a state of emergency. Be patriotic, serve the country well,as your loyalty is to the country”..
The President charge was contained in a statement issued by presidential spokesman,Femi Adesina,
Buhari assured the service chiefs of his prayers and support for them at all time while also asking them to be concerned about securing the physical and professional morales of subordinates.
Speaking to State House Correspondents after meeting with the President, the Chief of Defence Staff, Major General Leo Irabor said they would do their utmost best to bring safety and security to lives and properties across the country .
“We believed that there will be value that would be added to the security disposition of the nation. We , knowing the current security environment,must do everything possible to add value to the security disposition and that expectations are high and we are quite mindful of the expectations.We collectively will work to achieve that.
The Service Chiefs are the Chief of Defence Staff, Major General,Leo Irabor,Chief of Army Staff,Major General,I.Attahiru, Chief of Naval Staff,Rear Admiral,A Z Gambo and Chief of Air Staff,Air Vice Marshall I.O. Amao
