The Nigerian Army has deployed 300 female soldiers to the Abuja- Kaduna highway to beef up security operations and control criminal activities along the route.
The female soldiers are to complement the existing security operations in the area that has become notorious for kidnapping banditry and other crimes.
The first batch of 100 female soldiers arrived Kaduna State on Wednesday ,and were received by the state Governor,Nasir El-Rufai who expressed optimism that the deployment of additional female soldiers wouldl help in consolidating the gains so far recorded by the troops
In an effort to enhance their operations,El-Rufai donated a hostel to the Army for accommodation of the female soldiers
The combatant female soldiers were drawn from the Nigeriian Army Women Corps and were part of operation Thunder Strike, the Army unit responsible for flushing out kidnappers, bandits and other criminal elements in Kaduna and other states in the North West.
