The Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), in Ekiti on Sunday, said that it has resolved to seek justice at the Supreme Court against the ruling of an Appeal Court over the party congress of March 7, 2020.
The party under the chairmanship of Mr Kehinde Odebunmi disclosed this in a statement in Ado-Ekiti.
The statement signed by the state Publicity Secretary,Mr Sanya Adesua, said the decision to approach the apex court over the appeal court ruling dismissing the suit Number CA/ EK/57/2020. was part of the resolutions at a meeting in Ado- Ekiti on Friday.
The party stated that after extensive deliberations, considering the pros and cons, the judgement should be appealed at the Supreme Court, where it is believed that justice will be manifestly done.
The PDP faction loyal to Senator Biodun Olujimi had through Oladimeji Samson Olalekan and others,filed a motion ex- parte, seeking an order of the court, restraining the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) from announcing, publishing, and organizing any list as result of election of Ward Executives and three ad-hoc delegates held on March 7,2020.
Olujimi had also sought an order restraining the party from acting on, of making use of the names of winners of the Congresses for the purpose of the Local Government, State and Zonal Congresses.
A Federal High Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti presided by Justice Uche Agomo had earlier on Friday, July 17,2020, dismissed the suit, describing it as undoubtedly not justifiable as same is within an internal affairs of the PDP,citing Ukut vs APC suit.
The Appeal Court in its judgement on Wednesday, January 27, upheld the decision of the lower could and resolved all issues against the the appellant, Oladimeji Samson Olalekan
Delivering the judgement, Justice T. N. Orbit Abadua said the appellant case was not justifiable since it’s was centred on Internal affairs of a political party.
The PDP said on the grounds of the Appeal Court judgement, the party resolved that the State Working Committee under the leadership of Mr Kehinde Odebunmi should be sustained and encouraged to go ahead in running the affairs of the party.
The party also resolved that governoship aspirants are encouraged to go ahead with their consultations and mobilisation of the generality of Ekiti people who are anxiously waiting for a PDP led administration in 2022.
It however, warned that such sensitization must be devoid of rancour and violence while commending members of the party for their steadfastness and belief in the triumph of justice and truth over falsehood.
