Guinea has secured a place in the semi- finals of the 2020 African Nations Chairmanship (CHAN) in Cameroon on Sunday ,after defeating Rwanda 1-0 in Limbe Stadium.
The match saw both sides finished with 10 men.
The VAR intervened twice during the quarter- final match to ensure that Syli National midfielder Mory Kante and Rwanda goalkeeper,Oliver Kwizera were sent off on separate incidents.
Guinea Morlaye Sylla scored from the resultant free kick in the 60 th minute, after Kwizera was penalized for his late tackle on advancing striker Yakhouba Barry.
But the country suffered a set back in the 15th minute when captain and midfielder,Kante were sent off after VAR review of an incident in midfield.
The game resumed with intensity on both sides with atempts at goals which ended in misses making the West African country to seal the tie.
The defeat of Rwanda gives Guinea a chance to appear in the last four of the tournament designed exclusively for home- based players.
Guinea will take on Mali at the Japoma Stadium on Wednesday in Douala while Morocco will play same day with host country Cameroun at the Limbe Stadium.
The winners of Wednesday’s match will play in the final at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium on Saturday. The losers will play the third place march at the Reunification Stadium in Douala on Friday.
