The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control NCDC has recorded 685 new cases of covid-19 bringing the total number of iinfections in the country to 131,242
NCDC disclosed this on its Twitter handle on Sunday.
According to the Agency, the number of cases recorded on Sunday is the least it has reported in the last four weeks after confirming 576 cases in 2nd January 2021.
Sunday’s update shoots the country’s Covid-19 infections to 131,242 making it the sixth highest in Africa behind Ethiopia, Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco and South Africa.
The NCDC sadly announced eight additional Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours taking the country’s fatalities to 1,586.
If said the new cases were reported across 16 states with the Federal Capital Territory FCT recording no fresh case for the first time.
They are Lagos 355 Kaduna 58, Nasarawa 46, Kano 40,Akwa Ibom 33, Katsina 26, Ogun 25, and Osun 21,
Others are Rivers 16, Edo 15, Oyo 13, Ondo 12, Borno 11, Ekiti 9, Kebbi 3 and Plateau 2..
Of the eighr deaths that occurred, Lagos recorded 3, increasing its total deaths to 314, while Oyo and Kano reported two deaths each, Oyo now has a total of 85 deaths.Kano has 79 and Ekiti with one death now has a total of 9 deaths.
The NCDC posted 104,989, as number of recoveries with additional 1,277 patients discharged across the country in the last 24 hours
The Agency added that the discharged include 901 community recoveries in Lagos State and 123 community recoveries in Plateau state managed in line with its guidelines.
