Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma says the South East has to be properly positioned in politics to earn democratic dividends.
Uzodinma who spoke on Channels TV program ” Politics today” on Wednesday, noted that politics is about how a people should benefit from it and governance, about taking care of the people said that at the moment ,”the south east cannot attract fhe neccessary dividends of democracy if the region continued to remain outside the national politics.
He said the people of the South East ought to be properly aligned to the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress ( APC) and said it is only when the region is part and parcel of the moving train that it can get to its destination
“It is for this reason the South East has now decided to be part of the mainstream politics of Nigeria . So we are committed,We have joined the APC the ruling party. It is not about being President or not being president. Politics is about ideology.Politcs is about logic. If you want to be part and parcel of every meeting that will decide how a president would emerge in Nigeria,you have to submit to the party because the decision of the party remains supreme.So our belief,our commitment is to be part and parcel of the mainstream politics of Nigeria.and to enter into the national vehicle that would take us to our destination, that vehicle is APC.And I can assure you that our people are committed. It is not about the elites.We are talking about the Youths.We are talking about the women.We are talking about the young men and women in the south east part of the country.
We want a united Nigeria. We want national integration,We want national cohesion. We want Nigeria to move.When you see a leader who. Is working,we want to support him rather than submit to t the campaign of calumny.
President Muhammadu Buhari by our assessment has done so well that the only thing he is lacking is propaganda. .And we the people we are not interested in propaganda. We want to see the dividends of democracy. We want a president who will promise you that he will construct second Niger bridge and within a space of 12 months second Niger bridge is almost 80% complete.We want a president who would hear that Enugu airport has been broken down and within the next six months, Enugu airport is fixed Never in the history of Nigeria’s democracy has any governmentt brought out the number of social intervention programmes like this governmentt.”
