
The Plateau State Police Command has confirmed the death of a young man identified as David, who was brought out from a well in ECWA Staff Community Quaters Farin Gada area of Jos.
The State Police Spokesman, Gabriel Ubah made this known to newsmen in Jos on Saturday.
The deceased and six of his friends were said to have tried to evade arrest from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged cyber crimes and fraud .
The six others were however, arrested by the EFCC officials with their 5 exotic cars and gadgets seized .
An eyewitness,a security man attached to the building,Mr Francis Gida told newsmen that security operatives of the EFCC stormed the house at ECWA staff quaters on Friday, February 5, at about 6,a.m to make the arrest.
Gida narrated” I was at my post when I I heard a loud bang on the gate and when I inquired who it was, the security men identified themselves and asked me to open the gate.
“Before I could open the gate the boys had gotten wind of what was happening and tried to flee, unfortunately, one of them jumped into the next compound but after a search,he wasn’t found.
“Later,the owner of the house informed us that she suspects the boy hid inside here well but when we opened it,we didn’t see him but she was sure he went inside the well.
“We never thought that the boys were into crime, they are just young boys whom we thought had legitimate businesses”.he said.
The security man said a complaint was later lodged at the Police Station and the State Fire Service after which a combined team of the police and the fire service came to evacuate the body from the well
According to him, the deceased legs were severely broken when he was brought out of the well.
