Zamfara State Government says it’s sustained dialogue with Armed bandits has saved over 40,000 innocent lives.
Alhaji Abubakar Dauran, the Commissioner of Security and Home Affairs, disclosed this on Tuesday, at a press briefing jointly organised by the state government and the police at the State Police Command Headquarters , Gusau, the state capital.
Dauran said the peace and dialogue initiative of the governor led to many bandits surrendering their weapons
” These Ak-47 were surrended at once by just one gang of repentant armed bandits and I can tell you,each of these weapons is capable of killing 2,000 persons and if you multiply this by the number of guns surrendered,you will see what I mean”
On his part,the Commissioner of Police,Mr Yaro Abutu stated that since his arrival in the state less than three months ago, the Command has successfully and unconditionally rescued many kidnapped victims and recovered several arms and ammunition from repentant bandits saying”these are the kinds of results we want to be recording to earn us lasting peace”
Abutu added that a repentant gang leader,Auwalu Daudawa who vowed never to go back to banditry has also appealed to recalcitrant bandits to key into the peace Initiative and be of good conduct.
