The Plateau State Police Command have arrested 39 criminals for commiting crimes in the state in the last quarter of 2020.
The Commissioner of Police, Edward Egbuka said the suspects were arrested over armed robbery, criminal conspiracy, inciting public disturbance , kidnapping and car theft.
Egbuka who made the disclosure while presenting the suspects to newsmen on Wednesday in Jos, the Plateau State capita,l.listed other offences committed by the suspects as culpable homicide, illegal possession of fire arms, and cult activities.
According to him, the command” in pursuit of its constitutional mandate which includes the protection of lives and property, detection and prevention of crime, apprehension of offenders among other duties, have sustained the tempo of lawful and aggressive onslaught against criminal elements in every part of the state.”
Egbuka said the vigorous fight against the criminals led to” bountiful harvest of criminals. who took part in various crimes within the period under review “
The Commissioner said the success was possible by the dedication, commitment and resilience of officers and men of the command and support of sisters agencies as well as the good people of the state .
He thanked Governor Simon Lalong for supporting the command adding that the signing into law of the anti- kidnapping,land grabbing and cultist bill by the governor would go a long way in addressed some of the security challenges in the state.
