Health Services such as ante-natal for pregnant women and chlld immunisation at health centers across the eight Local Government Areas of the state were worst hit by the industrial action.
The Union on Friday, embarked on indefinite strike over non- payment of 15 months salary arrears.
MHWUN Chairman, Mr Barnabas Simon said the strike was the last option following the expiration of February 11 deadline and unsuccessful meetings with governmentt officials.
Simon said the union wanted nothing else but implementation of the prior discussions with governmentt officials.
The State Commissioner for Health,Dr Newton Igwelle said that efforts are ongoing to resolve the Industrial action by the Health workers.
He explained that the MHWUN members are not employees of the state government but are staff of the local governments and “they are having discussions to resolve the dispute.”
