A High Court sitting in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital has ordered the Alajaawa of Ajaawa in Ogo- Oluwa Local Government Area of the state, Oba Thompson Oyetunji to vacate his stool and stop parading himself as the monarch of the kingdom.
The Court also ordered the governor of the state and the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters to withdraw the certificate and staff of office presented to Oyetunji as it was given in disobedience to the court order made on the 11th of March,2020.
Justice Sherifat Adeyemi on her ruling on Monday, nullified the appointment, approval and presentation of certificate of for installation and staff if office for Oba Oyetunji by the state governor saying that evidence clearly showed that it was done in flagrant disobedience of the court order during the pendency of the suit until the final determination of the case.
Adeyemi also ordered Oyetunji to stop parading himself as the monarch of the town pending the final determination of the case.
The judge queried the signature on a letter dated 11th of June,2020 to counter affidavit which she observed “appeared to be forged and not that of the first claimant,” She asked the police to investigate the issue” because it is against the law”
” There was no evidence that shows that there has been a move to settle the case out of court and if there is any,it should be brought to the knowledge of the court” she said.
She therefore adjourned the case to 26th April for continuation of hearing.
The claimants,Prince Azeez Oyebunmi and Princess Kamorudeen Salami had on behalf of Olumole ruling House of Ajaawa sued the governor of the state, Attorney General of Oyo s, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Princess Thompson Oyetunji,Chief Adewale Erinle, and Chief Ademola Isola.
Others sued are Chief Adegbite Adeleke,Prince Oyegoke Oyegbami,Prince Oladele Akinbola, and Prince Gideon Oyekunle.
The claimants prayed the Court to give an order setting aside the purported appointment, and approval and presentation of certificate of installation and staff of office to Oba Oyetunji by the governor of the state which was done against the court order during the pending of the suit until the final determination of the case..
