Reports indicate that 27 students abducted alongside teachers and family members of staff of Governmentt Science College Kagara in Rafi local government area of Niger state have been released.
27 students,3 teachers and family members of staff of Governmentt Science College Kagara in Rafi local government area of Niger state were abducted in the early hours of last Wednesday compelling the state government to shut down all boarding schools.
The school abduction like many others before it, attracted condemnation of the bandits with the President directing a military operation to secure the release of the abducted persons.
The Federal and the Niger Government had ruled out the possibility of payment of ransom although speculations were rife that the N800,000,000 might have been paid.
Also last week,an Islamic scholar , Sheikh Gumi had advocated a blanket amnesty for bandits saying they were aggrieved of ill-treatment by the government.
