Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom has accused his collegue Governor,Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state of sponsoring terrorists threatening his life.
Ottom who made the allegation to newsmen on Monday,in Makurdi, the Benue capital, said Mohammed should be held responsible if anything happened to him because of Mohammed’s open incitement of fulani herdsmen against him.
The aggrieved governor alleged that Mohammed should apologise to Nigerians for the callous statement he made that Fulani herdsmen are justified to carry arms to protect themselves.
Ortom accused the Bauchi governor of being a part of the Fulani Organisation threatening the peace of Nigeria adding that the governor should be held responsible if anything happens to him.
” I think the governor of Bauchi state,my brother,Governor Bala Mohammed should just come out and apologise to Nigerians. It would be consoling because we all make mistakes.If he apologises,it would be appreciated.But to continue to argue is inflicting pain especially for some of us that have been victims of fulani herdsmen.
” But we are thinking that,inspite of the conspiracy to wipe some people away including Benue State, this is not correct.I don’t want to think that with what he said, and what those herdsmen wrote to me,that they are going to assassinate me,Bala Mohammed is also part of it with what he is saying.
“And if anything happens to me,I don’t want anybody to be in doubt.Bala Mohammed should be held responsible.
“Iam compelled to respond to him, and Iam beginning to think that my brother, the governor of Bauchi state is part of the terroriss fulani organisation that is terrorising this country.
“Why do I say this? This is the same governor who took oath of office, to protect the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.The constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria does not leave room for allowing foreign herdsmen or foreign fulani people,Tiv people or Yoruba as we see people all over the country to come in without valid papers.
“And of course, his outburst recently, that Fulani herdsmen are justified by carrying AK – 47 to protect themselves. I don’t know where the constitution of this country of the laws of the land allows any man or woman who is not licensed by security agents to carry even dane guns”. Ortom added.
