
Dr Cyprian Ngon has made history as the first Nigerian to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
Ngon has been working at the Covid-19 isolation centre at the National Hospital since March 2020.
Over 10,000 covid patients were treated and discharged under his care.
Three other health care workers also received their first doses of the vaccine.
Nigeria took delivery of 3.92 million doses of the Oxford/ AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccines under the COVAX arrangement on Tuesday morning.
The AstraZeneca vaccines were further examined by the National Agency For Food and Drugs Administration and Control NAFDAC before it was administered on Friday morning.
Speaking after administering the dosage on Ngon, the Executive Director of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency,Dr Faisal Shuaib said the vaccine certificate had all the vital information needed for travellers including the date, location and type of vaccine taken.
