A diplomat and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, Dr Orefo Onochie has urged the Federal Government to exploit the option of negotiating with insurgents to enable them embrace lasting peace.
In an interview with newsmen in Abuja on Sunday, Onochie said the move would prove a wiser option in the end.
Onochie who was the former Nigerian envoy to the Philippines and Algeria said that Nigeria should not be held hostage by terrorists especially in the North and urged the federal government to negotiate with bandits as there is nothing wrong if that can end banditry, insurgency and kidnapping in parts of the country.
Onochie who has eyes on the presidency argues that if the administration of late President Umaru Yar,,Adua could negotiate with militants, where the militants were trained and transformed, there was nothing wrong in doing same to insurgents.
On vaccine exercise currently ongoing, in the country, Onochie stated the importance of getting vaccinated.
He said” This singular act of patriotism will ensure that we will in the nearest future,defeat the scourge of the Covid-19 pandemic and return to a normal future.,’
He advised all Nigerians to take advantage of it.
