The Department of Petroleum Resources says it has compelled over 75% of petrol station outlets in Rivers state to sell within the approved pump price band of 160 to 165 naira per liter.
Zonal Controller of the DPR Port Harcourt office Bassey Ikang’a stated this after a 3-day long surveillance activities to filling station outlets in Rivers State.
Bassey Ikang’a said it is worrisome that about 80% of Petrol station outlets in the state were still selling petrol between 170 and 220 NAIA per liter despite the federal government’s reversal of the price.
The zonal controller of the DPR Port Harcourt office Bassey Ikang’a said three petrol station outlets were sealed along Ada George road and sanctioned for non compliance and being notorious for under dispensing products to motorists in the state.
The zonal controller of the DPR Port Harcourt office Bassey Ikang’a said depot facility operators in Rivers state have reached an agreement to sell Petroleum products to marketers at the stipulated ex depot price.
He said this is to reduce the pressure felt by the petrol station outlets who retail the product.
The DPR vowed to intensify the surveillance activities to filling station outlets in Rivers State and its suburbs to ensure one hundred percent compliance with the stipulated price.
