A retired lecturer, Prof Murtala Harcon on Thursday, told a Customary Court in Mapo in Ibadan that his wife, Alhaja Afsat still avoids sexual advances made by him despite his threat to quit the marriage.
Harcon (80), in resumed hearing of the suit explained to the court that his wife did not abide by the advice given to her by the arbitators to let peace reign by allowing him to her his way anytime he demanded such intimacy.
Afsat was absent when the case was called.
The President of the Court,Chief Ademola Odunade however, cautioned Prof.Harcon to exercise patience adding that the court would work with the extended members of the family to resolve the matter amicably.
Odunade adjourned the case to the 27 th of May for further hearing.
Harcon and his wife Afsat have been married for 52 years until a month ago when Harcon filed for divorce on grounds of sexual starvation, lack of cordial relationship and threat to life and property
But the defendant rejected the call for separation and said her husband was too promiscuous
She argued that she denied her husband access to her because he slept with the three wives of the man who acted as an intermediary between both of them.
The woman said her husband is old and has another wife but she would prefer to stay with him as she had been suffering with him since 1969 .
” Harcon recently took ill and has been acting funny in the house and does his cooking all alone.
,” I have traveled across the world with him suffering since,1969, and I do not wish to leave him now” she said.
