Anambra State Governor,Willie Obiano has described the killing and beheading of an alleged cultist as despicable and a terrible act.
In view of this, the governor has said that the state would no longer tolerate violence in the name of cultism.
Obiano said this on Sunday while briefing Journalists on the security situation at the Governmentt House,Awka.
He said the police have arrested three principal suspects in connection with the murder adding he has ordered a clampdown on cultists and all cult activities, and anyone who tried the government in that regard would have themselves to blame.
The governor has also banned all kinds of touting in the state especially in Onitsha and directed security agencies to arrest anybody roaming with sticks and molesting innocent citizens including drivers warning that the madness must stop
Suspected cultists had on Friday, stormed Oghalegbu village in Okija, in Ihiala Local Government Area of the state , shooting sporadically killing two people believed to be targets.
It was gathered that one of the victims alleged to be cultist was brutally murdered with his head severed from his body and taken away by his assailants in the presence of his mother and other relations.
