The Federal Government has been called upon to have another look at the judgement ceding Bakassi peninsula to neighbouring Cameroon.
A teacher of International law at Nasarawa State University,Keffi,Dr Philip Umaru- Ajeh stated this during the official launching of his book, titled” Rudiments of International Law” in Keffi on Tuesday.
Bakassi peninsula was ceded to Cameroon in a judgement delivered by the International Court of Justice ( ICJ) on Oct 10,2020.
Umaru- Ajeh stated that Nigeria’s interest had been affected by the judgement, adding that” Bakassi is a local government area in this country that cannot be ceded out without any tangible resistance
He explained that all avenues of settling international disputes were not exhausted before the judgement was passed.
Prof Onje Gye-Wado ,Dean, Faculty of Law,Bingham University,Karu, who reviewed the book commended the author for doing a good job.
He urged scholars, teachers students and polticians to avail themselves of the book to gain more knowledge.
In his remarks,Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State commended the author for contributing his quota to the development of education through the book.
Represented by the Commissioner for Special Duties/ Legal Matters, Abubakar Imam, said his administration will continue to initiate policies and programmes that would improve the standard of education in the state.
