Former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Prof. Chukwurah Soludo,on Wednesday, escaped the bullets of yet to be identified gunmen, three of his security aides however,did not survive as they were shot dead in the attack.
Soludo who is a frontline candidate in the off- cycle Anambra governoship election scheduled to hold on November 6,2021, was in Isuofia community in Aguata Local Government Area of the state when the attack occurred.
The attack comes in the midst of growing Insecurity in the South East foisted by the Eastern Security Network ESN, the militant wing of the banned Indigenous People of Biafra ( IPOB)
The ESN is said to have launched a campaign of violence on security agents on the southern part of the country.
Two weeks ago,a Naval officer who was recently deployed to Onitsha was killed without trace of his assailants.
Police operatives have also been kidnapped and killed by the gunmen believed to be members of the ESN reportedly on a killing spree.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba had on Sunday, announced that some members of the Indigenous People of Biafra and Eastern Security Network were arrested over the murder of security operatives.
