The Akwa Ibom Police Command has declared four of his officers missing in what it called” unprovoked attack on security officers by hoodlums in Essien Udim Local Government Area of the state.
The Police Spokesman,Odiko Macdon made this known in a statement on Wednesday.
Macon said that the police command had in recent times, in the Essien Udim Local Government Area,come under persistent unprovoked attacks leading to deaths and destruction of property,a trend which is totally absurd and unacceptable.
He said though the remote and immediate causes of those attacks were unknown,a discreet Investigation was on the way to unravel same and seek lasting solution.
According to him,,” the Commissioner of Police, CP Andrew Amengheme is deeply saddened by the unprovoked attack on security personnel who were out maintaining the peace yesterday,March 30,2021. which led to the demise of of CSP Ben Ajide,who was the Commander of the Command’s Quick Intervention Unit and two others while four others were missing”
He condoled with the families of the deceased officers assuring that the Command under his watch will not be deterred in carrying out it’s constitional duties and would not relent in fishing out the perpetrators to book.
