The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) on Friday, took stock of its progress during the Easter festive season.
The Corps said it covered 1,575 routes impounded 3,205 vehicles and apprehended 5,630 offenders for commiting 6,880 offences during the Easter patrol from March 31 to April 7.
In a statement made available to newsmen on Friday, the Corps Public Education Officer,Bisi Kazeem said the agency also recorded a total of 103 road traffic crashes as against a total of,200 in the same period in,2019 representing 14 percent decrease.
Kazeem said the Corps during the period under review also arraigned 87 offenders in mobile court’s, convicted 79 with option of fines and sentenced one to prison.
He attributed the decrease in road crashes to the establishment of station offices in almost all the 774 local governments in Nigeria, intensified sensitization campaigns and more effective patrol operations.
