The Kwara Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) have confirmed the death of 11 persons in an early morning crash in Kwara.
The Kwara State Sector Commander, Jonathan Owoade who confirmed the incident, said that the accident happened before Shao junction Along Olooru- Oko Olowo axis adding that the cause of the accident was speed violation.
According to him,” the Olooru Unit Command of the FRSC received a call at around 6:35 am today about a crash which occurred just before Shao junction along Olooru- Oko Olowo axis.
“The crash was a fatal one involving two vehicles, a commercial bus and a trailer. The cause of the crash was as a result of speed violation”, he said.
Owoade said that out of 20 persons involved in the crash, sadly 11 persons lost their lives while others sustained various degrees of injury
“The injured victims were taken to Davicayo Clinic at Kambi while the corpses have been taken to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital.
“The road has been cleared and there is no obstruction caused as a result of the crash”, Owoade said.
The sector Commander warned motorist against violating road safety guidelines adding that the resultant effect of over speeding was road traffic crash.
He advised road users especially travellers to take caution and exercise patience while stressing that“Speed violation, fatigue driving and disrespect for traffic rules can cut such expectations short.
