The National Broadcasting Commission ( NBC) has suspended Channels Television slamming the station with a N5 million fine for what it described as a breach of the broadcast code.
The Acting General Manager of the Commission, Prof. Armstrong Idachaba in a letter to the Managing Director of Channels Television, referred to Channels 7 pm live broadcast of Sunday, 25th April,2021, in which the station allowed a leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB to make inciting and secessionist declaration on air without recourse to the broadcast code.
The NBC also accused Channels of entertaining false and misleading statements against the Nigerian Army.
