The Niger State Government on Monday raised fears of the presence of Boko Haram terrorists in the state.
Governor Abubakar Bello who confirmed the development on Monday, said the terrorists have sacked residents of Munya and Shiroro Local Government Areas of the state.
Bello who had gone on a visit to Internally Displaced Persons Camp ( IDP) Camp at the IBB Central School in Minna called for drastic and cordinated action to check the menace of terrorism.
According to the governor, Boko Haram terrorists have forcefully taken over wives of I DPs adding that information available to him suggested that the terrorists have hoisted flags in Kauri .
He warned that the terrorists are trying to make Kauri their home and headquarters just as they did to the Sambisa forest .
Bello said Kauri is only two hours drive from Abuja indicating that Abuja is also not safe.
A Youth leader,Bulus Esu ,a native of Kuchi said bandits have taken over the town for about three weeks now
He said the situation of the fleeing villages was pathetic as they had no food to eat and place to lay their heads.
Esu said some communites paid large ransom to evade abduction but the criminals kept coming back to demand for more and even rape their women .
Niger state is one of the middle belt states adversely affected by acts of terrorism.
Not too long ago, Students of Government Science Secondary School Kagara were abducted alongside teachers and family members.
One of the students was killed in the process.
Similarly, several travellers have fallen prey to evil acts of the terrorists , while some were unfortunately killed, others were lucky to be rescued.
Kuchi becomes the latest in the communites to fall under Boko Haram control.
The Yobe town of Geidam came under the attack of the terrorists on Sunday. The terrorists reportedly operated unchallenged for about 72 hours, beheaded a teacher and then began the process of recruitment of fresh members.
Geidam is the home of the Acting Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba and former governor and incumbent Senator, Ibrahim Geidam ( APC,Yobe East).
An attempted placing of flag in the Borno town of Zabarmari recently was foiled by gallent troops who reclaimed the area and allayed fears of residents.
