Kaduna State Government says bandits have killed two more students of Green Field University in Kaduna.
Green Field University is a private university located in Chikun local government area of the state.
The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, who confirmed this in a statement on Monday, said the corpses of the students were recovered by security agencies and have been deposited in a mortuary.
The development brings the number of abducted students killed to 5.
The Kaduna State Government is not relenting on its stand not to negotiate with the bandits despite pleas by aggrieved parents of the students to the government to rescue their children.
A public affairs analyst, who spoke under condition of anonymity said the time had come for schools prone to attack to close down.
” School proprietors should close down schools. Do they need to be told to close down schools?
” If my children are going to school in such location,I will go to the school and withdraw my children.
” Private schools in such areas ought to have abandon in- person learning for now and focus on teaching and learning via virtual means.
” The bandits are killing the children to persuade parents and government to pay the N800 million ransom.which they are demanding.
Another concerned female citizen who spoke to current matters expressed regret over the killing describing Nigerian current state as a jungle where anything goes.
” Our country is fast degenerating. We live in a jungle where anybody can just wake and kill or be killed without any reason.
” I feel for the parents of the children, I feel for the families. Has it become a crime now for parents to send their children to school? Why is no one talking about the rescue of the children?
” Public schools are threatened,now private schools have become juicy areas for kidnappers? Why is it that uptil now none of the students had been rescued? I don’t understand what is happening again” she said.
