Unconfirmed report says the General Officer Commanding GOC 1 Division Kaduna, Major- General Danjuma Ali Keffi has been appointed the Acting Chief of Army Staff by President Muhammadu Buhar following the death of Lieutenant General, Ibrahim Attahiru on Friday.
Attahiru and 10 other officers lost their lives in a plane crash in the vicinity of the Kaduna International Airport.
The late Chief of Army Staff was said to be on his way to attend a passing out parade of recruit as Special Guest of Honour when the crash occurred.
No final reason had been given as the cause of the crash though airport authorities suggested that bad weather may have triggered the crash.
On Saturday, The Accident Investigation Bureau of Nigeria recovered the Black Box and the Cockpit Recorder which would aid Investigation into the actual cause of the crash.
The officers were laid to rest on Saturday after prayers were offered for the repose of their souls at Mosques and Churches.
Keffi is said to be a member of the 38 Regular Course of the Nigerian Defence Academy and an alumnus of Bangladesh Defence College.
