Yourhs under the aegis of the Northern Youth Council of Nigeria,NYCN has given two weeks ultimatum to Imo Governor, Hope Uzodinma within which to produce the killers of former Presidential aide, Ahmed Gulak or declared unwelcome in any part of the north.
National President of the association, Isah Abubakar, who gave the warning in a statement on Wednesday condemned the killing going on in the South East and said that the Imo government must give account of those who killed Gulak even as it warned that the wanton killing of Northerners and destruction of police facilities would no longer be tolerated.
It said” Let us state categorically that northern youths will do everything within their powers to force the government of Imo state to bring the perpetrators of this crime to justice. The Imo State Governor and other South East Governors should take note that we shall not accept the continued killing of Northerners and Northern elites in their region as we shall take revenge henceforth”
The NYCN asked the Federal Government to live its responsibility of protecting lives and property so as to avoid the current situation snowball into a full blown civil war.
Gulak was murdered by gunmen on Wednesday morning while he was on his way to the airport to catch a flight.
Unconfirmed intelligence information reportedly said that the former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP was killed by members of the Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB following his refusal to obey the sit- at -home order given by IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu to honour all those from the region who died during the Civil War.
Gulak was Special Adviser to ex- President, Goodluck Jonathan and stirred in many controversies including the issue of Igbo presidency.
The politician who decamped to the All Progressives Congress APC from the Peoples Democratic Party PDP said there was no provision on Igbo presidency going by the APC constitutiion.
He also gave his support for 2023 to candidates including those from the north.
In the build up to the 2019 election, Gulak was appointed by the APC as Chairman of the Imo governoship election primary that produced Governor Hope Uzodinma as candidate.
Gulak had said that he rejected bribe of $2m to turn the result of the primary which was the reason the then Imo government challenged him.
