The Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje says there is advantage in the differences that exist among ethnic groups in the country noting that the diversity in religion and ethnicity was a blessing for the country.
Ganduje who stated this on Monday during a gala nite organised in honour of the Nigerian Guild of Editors NGE in Kano said that if the country was not a secular state and had just one religion and culture, there would still be challenges adding that there was no alternative to a united and formidable Nigeria.
Earlier, the governor led the visitng Editors on tour of projects including health, education and road construction executed by his administration. He said that the projects were carried out in line with the needs of the people.
He thanked the NGE for choosing the state as host of its convention.
In his remarks a former governor of Ogun state and fellow of the NGE, Chief Segun Osoba commended the governor for the numerous projects of his administration which he noted are found in developed countries.
Osoba said the facilties he saw when he was hospitalised in the United Kingdom a few years ago were replicated in Kano describing the governor as hardworking , reliable and humble.
The Guild President,Mustapha Isah in his address thanked the governor for hosting the guild..
Some of the highlights of the event were the presentation of plaque to the governor by Isah , induction of new members by a former President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, former Commissioner and fellow of the Guild, Mr Bonnie Iwuoha and cultural performances .
Past presidents of the guild, Gbenga Adefaye and Funke Egbemode were part of the event.
