Microblogging Giant, Twitter has opened talks with the Nigerian Government following the suspension of its operations.
Twitter in a post on Monday morning through its verified Twitter Public Policy’s Handle said it has reviewed its actions and are currently discussing with the federal government . It promised to abide by the laws and supreme authority of the nation.
” We’re committed to peace, progress and freedom of speech of the Nigerian people. We have reviewed our actions and are in communication with the Nigerian government and promise to respect the laws and sovereignty of Nigeria”. It tweeted
The Federal Government last Friday, banned the operations of Twitter in the country three days after the social networking service deleted President Muhammadu Buhari’s message Twitter considered as having genocide command.
There has been series of reactions following the suspension by several countries, Non governmental organisations and individuals.
The presidency had also described its ban on Twitter as temporary over the weekend, paving the way for talks about understanding and lifting the suspension.
