Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma has called on the people of Imo including traditional rulers and the political class to condemn the ongoing destruction of public facilties in the state.
The governor accordiing to a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Oguwike Nwachukwu disclosed this during a chat with State House Correspondents after he met with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential villa on Tuesday.
He said that the time for cooperation of all stakeholders to address the degenerating security challenges in the state was now adding that he alone can not tackle the problem.
Imo state is steadily turning into a lawless state as known and unknown gunmen unleash terror on the police and innocent citizens of the state.
In the last few days, the security forces have killed alleged high profile members of the Eastern Security Network ESN said to be the brain behind the attacks in the state.
Though the reason for the selected attacks by the gunmen was not known, analysts believe it is politically motivated.
Critics of the Uzodinma government argue that the crisis is linked to the Supreme Court Judgement that declared him governor of Imo state as they do not imagine that a man who came fourth in an election would be declared winner.
Others were of the view that the governors seizure of the properties of a former government might have triggered the crisis.
However, with the confession of a suspect alleged to be an ESN hitman on Saturday that sponsors of their operation came from overseas, and fingers pointing towards leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, there is a reason to believe that there is more to it given the defiant stance of the self acclaimed secessionist overlord.
