Unless the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA, puts its house in order it might not be allowed to participate in the governoship election scheduled to hold on November 6,2021.
This follows the non- compliance with the set INEC guidelines by a faction of the party led by Victor Oye . The Oye led faction accordiing to INEC did not duly notify the commission of plan to hold ward congresses ahead of the governoship election within the 21 days recommended by its regulation and Section 85 of the Electoral Act.
INEC. position is captured in separate letters addressed to the Party’s principal counsel , Omas and Patners, and the National Chairman of APGA dated June 18,2021, the commission said it did” not receive the statutory 21 days notice for the nomination of APGA Anambra State governorship candidate from Victor Oye led faction.
“Accordingly, the commission did not monitor the said ward congress and as such, there is no monitoring report of the commission.”
The Commission further stated that it is unable to confirm if the Ad hoc Delegates list submitted by the party is the outcome of a democratic process as required by Section 87(7) of the Electoral Act 2010 ( As Amended).
APGA had scheduled its governoship primary for June 23,2021 The Party is marred by challenges recently with a splinter group led by Jude Okeke emerging and authenticating itself as right leadership of the party
