The Federal Government has given approval for the establishment of the Nigerian Law School campus in Port Harcourt.
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike disclosed this through a statement issued by Kevin Ebiri, his Special Assistance on Media in Port Harcourt on Wednesday.
The Statement said that the governor made the disclosure at a birthday party in honour of Senator Barry Mpigi.
The statement quotes Wike as saying” We have gotten approval to have a Law School in Port Harcourt.
“It is not about me,It is the legacy you leave.
” This was a Law School that was given to Port Harcourt, but the previous government rejected it and it was sent to Yenagoa”
The government gave assurance that the Law school would be the best Law school in Nigeria on completion in six months.
However, the governor’s claim of the Law school being earlier approved for Rivers but rejected by the previous government did not go down well with some of the actors in the previous administration.
When contacted, Spokesman of the APC, Ogbonna Nwuke said there was no time that the previous government rejected consideration or approval for the establishment of a Law School in Rivers State.
He said under the Jonathan’s administration, Federal Government projects which were agreed to be sited in Rivers were taken to Bayelsa.
