The 6th Division of the Nigerian Army has extended its ongoing annual range classification exercise for another two weeks in Rivers .
The Division’s Spokesman, Lt.-Col. Charles Ekeocha, made the announcement in a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Thursday.
He said, the shooting practice which commenced on June 13 was scheduled to end on June 27 before the extension to July 10.
According to the statement,“The exercise is being conducted at the Army Shooting Range at Elele in the Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers.
It advised members of the public especially residents of Elele community and environs to keep away from the general shooting area while also urging residents not to panic on hearing sounds of gunshots and movement of troops in the area,
The Range classification exercise is aimed at improving the proficiency of troops on the use of firearms.
