The Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) said that five persons died in an accident that involved two vehicles at Christopher University on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Thursday.
Four persons also sustained various degrees of injuries.
The Mowe-Ibafo Divisional Commander of TRACE, Mr Olusola Ojuoro, confirmed the incident in an interview with newsmen in Ota , Ogun. State.
Ojuoro explained that the accident which involved two trucks happened at about 9.15 a.m. due to wrongful overtaken.
He said that a Toyota hiace bus steering locked on motion when the driver was about to maneuver a broken vehicle on the highway, and in the process rammed into a truck.
The commander said that Nine persons comprising of six males and three females were involved in the accident which led to the death of five people that included three females and two males.
He stated that four persons also sustained various degrees of injuries in the accident adding that “The corpses of the victims had been deposited at the Idera Hospital, while the survivors are also receiving treatment at the same hospital.”.
Ojuoro said that the vehicles had been towed off the road to Redeemed Christian Church of God Cage through the assistance of TRACE personnel, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officials and other sister agencies and said that normalcy had returned to the expressway.
