As the death of Popular Nigerian singer, Olanrewaju Abdulganiyu Fasasi, also known as Sound Sultan hit the streets on Sunday, his family has issued a statement stating the cause of death.
The statement on Sunday signed by his brother, Kayode Fasasi, on behalf of the family, said that Sound Sultan died at the age of 44 after a battle with throat cancer.
The statement said that the late singer and producer was survived by wife, three children and siblings.
“It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of multi-talented singer, rapper, songwriter, Olanrewaju Fasasi a.k.a Sound Sultan.
“He passed away at the age of 44, following a hard-fought battle with ‘Angioimmunoblastic T-cell Lymphoma’.
“We, his family, appreciate utmost privacy as we come to terms with this tragic loss.”
The late singer began his music career in 1991, and released his first single “Jagbajantis” in 2000 which became a massive hit in Nigeria.
The late musician independently released other singles and featured in hit songs of other artists, he was signed by Kennis Music before he moved to Naija Ninjas, which he started with his brother Baba Dee.
