The Peoples Democratic Party PDP on Monday asked a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja to sack the Zamfara State Governor,Bello Matawalle and his Deputy, Mahadi Aliyu Gusau over their defection from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress APC.
This is containedl in a suit filed by Messrs Sani Kaura Ahmed and Abubakar Muhammed, all members of the Zamfara PDP.
In the suit marked: FHC/ ABJ/CS/489/2021 , the plaintiffs are asking the court to declare that the governor and his must resign from their offices to pave way for the conduct of fresh election that retains the PDP on the seats.
They cited an earlier judgement of the Supreme Court which voided the APC candidacy in the 2019 governorship elections in Zamfara State following invalid primaries, arguing that it would be unlawful for the governor and his deputy to retain their offices while defecting to the APC with the victory achieved from the PDP .
After listening to the exparte motion moved by the plaintiffs lawyer,Kanu Agabi ( SAN) , Justice Inyang Ekwo granted an order for substituted service of the originating processes on the Governor and his Deputy.
