Members of the All Progressive Congress, APC, who have sued the party, have been advised to withdraw their cases in court and use the mechanism of reconciliation to address their grievances.
A member, Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committe, APC, Professor Tahir Mamman, SAN, made the appeal in Abuja while addressing newsmen on the legal status of the Committee and its Chairman, Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State.
He explained that the Supreme court had affirmed the legality of the Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee and its Chairman as witnessed in the majority of Justices at the court on the issue.
The Nigerian Supreme Court in its judgement affirmed the legality of the Committee, while drawing its judgement with the case of the People’s Democratic party, which the court granted to its national convention, which in turn appointed a national caretaker in 2016, which the supreme court ruled legal in Sheriff vs PDP”
On the issue of the acting National Chairman, Governor Buni, he said, ” the Supreme court held that he was appointed only in acting capacity on temporal basis to carry out and fill in the seat of the National Chairman, pending the election of new officers.
Professor Mamman also urged APC members to focus on all upcoming congresses by ensuring unity and harmony in the party.
He advised the opposition Peoples Democratic Party to focus on the logs in its eyes and leave the ruling APC alone.
