The Governor of Jigawa State, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar says his administration has executed several Infrastructural and Economic Empowerment programmes that border on the neeeds of the 27 local government areas of the state.
These include road construction and rehabilitation and massive Educational Infrastructural development of which over two thousand and five hundred classrooms have been built across the state.
The governor while speaking to a delegation of Editors who paid him a courtesy visit in Dutse, the state capital said the government has built a total of 348 new primary schools,142 new Junior Secondary Schools and and 352 early learner centres adding that the government has employed 1,393 qualified teachers and sent 210 students abroad to study medicine out of which about 60 of them are done with the programme.
Represented by the Deputy Governor, Alhaji Umar Namadi, Baduru said the government knowing that agriculture was the bedrock of the economy of the state, decided to initiate an agricultural policy for the state which priotised cluster system of farming.
According to him, the establishment of cluster farming has not only increased production levels of agricultural products but boosted the income of the average farmer in Jigawa.
The governor said the state has mapped out several grazing reserves to prevent Farmer) Herder clashes while also empowering women at the ward levels with goats with the ultimate aim of massive goat production in the state.
The governor also explained the importance of healthcare and said it was providing one primary health care center in each of the local government areas and upgrading existing ones to hospitals while 6 new General Hospitals are also being built.
Earlier, the President of the Guild,Mr Mustapha Isah had told the governor that the Editors were in the state for a meeting and praised the developmental strides of the Baduru administration.
Other highlights of the visit was the presentation of Governor Badaru’s 5 year development strategic book captioned” SO FAR,SO GOOD.
