Rivers State Commissioner for Information, Pastor Paulinus Nsirim and Head of Service, Pastor Rufus Godwin paid tributes to Mrs Juliet Tokunengiyeofori Njiorwhor.
Njiorwhor was a management Staff of the Rivers State Newspaper Corporation the TiDE. She was until her death last Saturday, the Acting Editor Daily of the Newspaper.
Speaking on the occasion of the service of songs held in her honour at her residence in Port Harcourt, Nsirim expressed the condolences of the Rivers State Government to the Njiorwhor family saying the state government shared in their family grief.
The Commissioner who said he’ knew Mrs Njiorwhor since 1989 described her as one whose smile was infectious made him close to her saying by her death he has lost a true friend
Nsirim said Njiorwhor was a woman full of kindness adding she was one who excelled in her careeer which made him not to hesitate ‘to recommend her for the position of Editorship of the Tide’
“Without fear or contradiction, Juliet distinguished herself and even raised the bar of the editorial content of the newspaper.”
He said her death was a reminder to the living to be aware of their legacies, expressing doubt if anyone had an axe to grind with her.
Also speaking, the Head of Service, said he had known the Njiorwhor family for about 30 years and said her cheerful disposition was rare and made bonding with the family unavoidable.
Godwin who said he was shocked and shattered by her death said he could only scribble a few lines to express his condolences to his dear friend and husband of the bereaved, Mr Promise Chindah Njiorwhor.
He prayed to God to grant the family the strength to overcome their grief.
Her biography was read by her daughter and namesake, Juliet Oby Chindah Njiorwhor while one of her sons, Promise Eruchi Chindah Njiorwhor Jnr.read his tribute to his mother.
