Rivers State Broadcasting Corporation RSBC popularly called Radio Rivers is strategically located at No 2 Degema
Street in the heart of Port Harcourt Township.
Created by edict No. 8 of 1973, Radio Rivers is owned, controlled and funded by the state.
On May 2 ,1981, the Frequency Modulation ( FM) station was added to disseminate a wealth of information across borders.
Radio Rivers 2 on the frequency 99.1 Megahertz was the first FM station to be launched in Rivers State and the second in Nigeria.
The station parades an array of brilliant and beautiful personalities ,diverse in voices but united in the objective of informing the public on government policies, projects and programmes , enlightening the masses on public interest services to help those desiring to learn and entertaining them through Music , Drama and Chat shows amongst a lot.
One of such on- Air Personalities is Kie Obomanu.
Kie is a presenter,annoucer whose mastery and delivery of news , commentaries and interviews marks him out proficiently as adorable and outstanding.Kie’s in-depth knowledge and use of Diction combined with his baritone voice earned him” the Golden Voice” by listeners.
Kie joined the Rivers State Broadcasting Corporation about 20 years and has not looked back in the business of entertaining, enlightening and educating the masses through his presentation of his programme” The Conversation” and classics in different genres of music,
Kie meaning” Count me in your blessing in Ibani language is indeed blessed. He is blessed by the works of his hands and blessed with a lovely family.
The Broadcaster who said his love for broadcasting started long before his entry into the field, said he was inspired by Veterans such as Eric Uzoma, Tamunosela Jumbo now Emmanuel and late Musician, Jerry Demua who encouraged him to enroll in broadcasting school.
Gingered by the advice, he approached the then General Manager of the Rivers State Broadcasting Corporation ,Mr Morgan Omodu who recommended him to then Senior presenters and trainers, Mr Brighten Sorgwe and Mrs Florence Ekiye for internship.The move, he said was the genesis of his success story.
Kie is passionate about the plight of the disadvantaged and fights against injustice. As a Disability Rights Advocate,he strives to correct the negative perceptions against Persons with Disability. ” Doing my best to put smiles on the faces of the less privileged, relatives and friends.” he declared.
Kie stated that his desire to contribute his quota to society towards making it a better,safe and friendly place and serving God made him to venture into broadcasting .
On what his high moments were? Kie said it was when he was privileged to interview Rotimi Amaechi as a sitting governor and asked him questions bordering on extreme pride. Worthy of note is the question” Is Rotimi Amaechi an arrogant man?”
Kie , an excellent compere left no one in doubt of his skillfulness when he compered for former president, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and was Master of Ceremony during Governor Wike’s governoship campaign in Rivers State
The man of the moment is a Marketing and Development strategist whose contents impact the society through the Media and Public Relations.
Kie hobbies include driving , listening to music and reading biographies and autobiogries.
” When I am with my family playing games with them” he said.
