Leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has filed a legal action against the Federal Government over” violations of his human rights”
In an eighth- point prayer before an Abia High Court, on Tuesday,Kanu is asking the court to enforce his fundamental rights and halt his ongoing trial at the Federal High Court in Abuja.
Joined in the suit along with the Federal Government are the Nigerian Army, the Department of State Service,DSS and the Nigeria Police Force.
Kanu’s counsel,Aloy Ejimakor in a statement on Tuesday, said that the detained IPOB leader had secured an order from the Abia High Court to serve by substitution,an application for enforcement of his fundamental rights
Ejimakor also asked the court to mandate the respondents to pay the sum of N5,000,000,000 ( five billion naira). for physical, mental, emotional and psychological damages suffered by his client.
Next hearing on the matter has been fixed for September 21 .
