No fewer than 240 inmates at the Medium Security Custodial Center in Kabba-,Kogi State have escaped following an attack by gunmen on the facility late Sunday night
Mr Francis Enobore, Spokesman of the Nigerian Correctional Service( NCoS), who disclosed the development in a communique on Monday said that the attackers who were many and heavily armed invaded the Custodial Center and immediately engaged the security on ground in a gun duel.
He said the Comptroller- General,Haliru Nababa has ordered a recapture procedure to be activated immediately and detailed investigation carried out.
Before the attack , the custodial centre had a total of 294 inmates out of which 70 were convicted while 224 were pre- trial detainees.
