The Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, has inaugurated the 2021-2023 Council of Computer Professionals ( Registration Council of Nigeria CPN) .
The Minister, who was represented by the Minister of state for Education, Hon. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, confirmed in the opening address that the establishment of CPN is Government’s way of demonstrating its commitment to the development and deployment of Information Technology in Nigeria.
According to the minister, ” the task of nation building through IT is an enormous one, but it is something we can do”.
He also stated that everyone is aware of what the dynamic and progressive policy in information Technology has done for many countries around the globe.
In his words” with our determination, commitment and professionalism, we can attain and surpass their record”.
Nwajiuba therefore, reiterated the call on all individuals and organisations that are into Information Technology Practice to register with the CPN
He assured the council of government’s unflinching support in its fighting against quacks, impostors and irregularities in the IT industry.
The Minister advised the newly inaugurated council members to improve on the tempo off the current success at hand.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of CPN, Mr Kole Jagun emphasized on the task of regulating the industry, which requires dogged commitment and sheer dedication.
According to him,” we know that the task of regulating and supervising a highly dynamic profession like IT industry in Nigeria will require us to put in the best in us, in order to achieve our set objectives”.
Mr kole Jagun lauded the Federal Ministry of Education for its support for the CPN saying, ”the support has gone a long way to assist us in the execution of our various programmes and objectives.”
Jagun also commended the Federal Government in its efforts towards deepening Information Technology in Nigeria.adding that it was a welcome development since IT is a tool for building a better life and eradicating poverty.
