Last Friday, a team of Security operatives suspected to be acting under the command of some influencial government officials invaded the Abuja residence of Odili,a Supreme Court Judge over allegations bordering on illegal activities.
In a statement on Monday, signed by Force Spokesman, CP Frank Mba, the IGP described the invasion as unacceptable.
” Consequently, the IGP has directed the Force Intelligence Bureau ( FIB) to conduct a discreet investigation into the incident. He assured the commitment of the Force to the safety and security of the members of the judiciary and Nigerians in general”
The IGP while calling for calm assured that the force would do all within its powers to unravel the pepertatrors and motives behind the breach with a view to bringing the culprits to book, also directed the Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory FCT Command to beef up security around the street and residence of Justice Mary Odili to ensure her safety and prevent a recurrence of the unfortunate incident.
Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike had on Sunday in Abuja while addressing a meeting of Rivers Leaders issued a 48 hour ultimatum within which to unmask the actors behind the raid of the Justice Odili’s residence.
Describing the incident as a deliberate attempt on the life of the Justice and her family, Wike wondered why the Federal Government would shy away from knowledge of the invasion even where names of those who carried out the ugly act were in public domain.
The governor warned that the people of the state would hold the Federal Government responsible should anything happened to any member of the Odili family.
