The Funeral of Collin Powell, former US Secretary Of State was held on Friday at the Washington National Cathedral.
The programme was attended by the US President,Joe Biden and his wife, Jill.
Others who attended the ceremony that was a roll call of very important government officials past and present, the business community , the Armed Forces ,Leaders of the Episcopal Church and others were former president,Barrack Obama and his wife Mitchell,his predecessor, George W. Bush and wife Laura.
Powell’s predecessor, Madeline Albright and former Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton were among dignitaries who graced the funeral.
Powell was born on April 5,1937 at Harlem,New York,
He was an Army Officer and a diplomat. He was appointed Secretary of State by the Bush’s administration and served in that capacity from 2001- 2005 .
Powell described by his family and friends as one with a heart of humanity passed away on 18 October,2021 at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center,Bethesda, Maryland,USA.
