
The Nigerian Police, has received a boost from Rotary International in infrastructural development for efficient service delivery to the public.
The Rotary International District 9141 Governor, Andy Uwejiyan while commissioning a renovated Woji divisional police station constructed by the Rotary Club Woji Town in Port Harcourt, said members of the Nigeria Police Force deserve a conducive facility to work in so they can properly deliver effectively. He encouraged Rotary clubs in the district to visit Police Stations around their catchment areas and improve their work places.

“ If you take a peep into conditions and facilities where the police work, you will have compassion for them. I commend what the Rotary Club Woji Town has done; it’s a step in the right direction. Let other clubs extend hand of fellowship to other Police station around them and improve their welfare and facilities, so they can serve better. If the Police are in a conducive environment or facility, they will deliver more effectively. I hereby commission this renovated Woji Police Division for efficient use and service delivery”, the Rotarian DG Uwejeyan said.

On his part, President of the Rotary Club Woji Town, Dr Paul Azegbebor said the project will boost the morale of the Police in Woji town to redouble efforts in securing the area from crime especially on the ember months. “ we felt since that the Police provide Security, it’s necessary for them to be in a comfortable environment to be able to properly carry out their duties. We expect that this will boost their morale to put in more effort in securing especially Woji town especially in the festive season. Rotary’s goal today is to create environments where peace can be built and maintained through sustainable and measurable activities in communities worldwide. Peacebuilding remains a cornerstone of our mission as a humanitarian service organization.

The Rotary International Assistant Governor zone Eleven, Ann Anyaka PHF said Rotary Clubs will continue to promote a peaceful environment and coexistence throughout her projects in host communities.
On her part, the Woji town Divisional Police Officer, Henrietta Eboka while commending the efforts of the Rotary club of Woji Town, said the project is coming at a time the police station is in dire need of it.

Our correspondent Precious Ahiakwo-Ovie reports that the renovation includes building of toilets and bathrooms, provision of water borehole, repainting, with floor tiles fittings, tables, chairs, among others.
